Way Family Genealogy Report

This report shows nine generations of descendants of Edward Way of Wiltshire, England. His son, Robert Way, was the first Way to take residence in Chester County, Pennsylvania. The Family Tree Maker Report was prepared using Way Family records provided by children of James Vincent Way, and extended with facts taken from a book titled "Descendants of Robert and Hannah Hickman Way of Chester County, Pennsylvania", compiled by D. Herbert Way of Woodstown, NJ.

1. EDWARD1 WAY was born Abt. 1640 in Wiltshire, England, and died in Wiltshire, England.
Notes for EDWARD WAY:
Edward Way was named in the register of Bromham Parish, Wiltshire, England. Notation "1668, Feb. 12, Robert Way, sonn of Edward Way of Chitto, Bapt." Edward also had a son named Edward, Bapt. same place in 1663.

2. ROBERT2 WAY (EDWARD1) was born Abt. 1667, and died 1725 in Kennett Twp, Pa.. He married HANNAH HICKMAN, daughter of FRANCIS HICKMAN and ELIZABETH CHAMBERLIN. She was born March 13, 1672/73 in Lambourn Woodlands, Berkshire, England.
Notes for ROBERT WAY:
Robert was baptized in 1668. In 1690 he purchased 400 acres of land in Chester County, Pennsylvania. In 1691 he purchased 150 acres of land on the Brandywine Creek in Kennett township. He is the earliest known ancestor of the Way family in Pa., settled in Chester County about 1685-86.
