       Old machinery catalogues are fascinating to read. They tell us about things that are no longer around to see.  Machinery like these old commercial knitting machines are seldom found in a modern museum.

       The Steam Shirt Press below had pressure applied by a conventional screw mechanism. The operator would grasp one of the heavy iron balls and spin the screw up or down to open and close the press.
